The actual problem

You're spending your days fixing everyone else's problems, not growing your practice

01

Your vets are stressed and overthinking

Second-guessing clinical decisions, replaying cases at night and quietly battling imposter syndrome.

02

Your nurses don't think they're good enough

One angry client or one small mistake becomes proof that there's something wrong with them.

03

There's friction and gossip in the team

Which lands on your desk as another uncomfortable conversation you have to have.

04

It's costing the practice real money

A burned-out vet on sick leave is around £10,000 a month in locum cover. A resignation means recruiting all over again.

05

Your own work goes home with you

Everyone needs your help, so your to-do list gets pushed to tomorrow again, and you can't switch off.

All five come back to the same thing

The "I am not good enough" voice in your vet's head at two o'clock in the morning. Negative beliefs don't stay inside people's heads. They shape how your team feel, how they communicate and how they work, and they're what pushes people towards burnout.

Why what you've tried hasn't worked

Changing the schedule doesn't change what's going on inside

Vets and nurses don't need more support. They need effective support.

What you've already tried

  • Adjusted the rotas
  • Offered four-day weeks
  • Protected lunch breaks
  • Introduced wellbeing policies
  • Listened to the theories about stress and burnout

What actually changes things

  • Getting to the heart of what's driving the struggle
  • Teaching your team the skill of self-inquiry
  • Self-compassion and curiosity before they react
  • Responding to what's happening, not their perception of it
  • Practical action, not more theory
The VetYourSelf Practice Partnership

Four things that change for your practice

We can't promise to stop every conflict or difficulty. We can help your team build the capacity to choose how they respond.

1

Less overthinking and fewer sleepless nights

Your team learn to notice the inner critic that uses the smallest mistake as proof they've failed, and to meet it with self-compassion.

In their wordsCalum Lawson: “Kellie was able to work with me and figure out what was really making me overly stressed, and help me overcome the stress and anxiety and make my work life ten times easier.”
2

Less conflict, better conversations

Instead of spiralling, people respond to what's actually happening in front of them, not to old wounds.

In their wordsTom: “I felt safe to share and listen to others, and it really helped me understand and support myself and those around me so much better.”
3

Less sick leave, burnout and resignations

Less overworking and self-sabotage means less exhaustion, fewer extended absences and more of your valued people staying.

4

Less reliance on you

A happier, healthier, more self-aware team needs less from you. You spend less time firefighting and get back the time to grow a more profitable practice.

Is this just another wellbeing talk?

No. It's practical support, alongside your whole team

We work with everyone in the practice, including you. Here's what a 12 week Practice Partnership includes.

Three in-person workshops

Bringing your team together to build self-awareness, self-compassion, connection and practical ways to navigate veterinary life.

Weekly support groups

A regular space for your team to talk, reflect and get support from people who understand the profession.

One-to-one therapeutic support

Confidential individual support with Kellie for those times when someone needs something more personal.

Manager and clinical director coaching

Dedicated support for the people who spend so much of their time supporting everyone else.

Neurodivergent support

Helping those who identify as neurodivergent find greater calm in an often loud and overstimulating practice environment.

Online learning platform

Learning and resources your team can access throughout the programme and return to afterwards.

Regulation tools and resources

Simple, practical exercises to help your people regulate when veterinary life feels stressful or overwhelming.

Staff survey

Helping us understand what's really happening within your practice so we can tailor the support around your team.

And it counts as CPD: up to 36 hours

The time your team spend with us also supports their professional development, so it's two benefits in one.

Who you'll be speaking with

We know veterinary life because we've lived it.

We're Mark and Kellie, a vet and a veterinary nurse turned therapist. Between us, we've spent more than 45 years in the veterinary profession.

Mark has been a vet for over 25 years and still is. He knows how exhausting and lonely veterinary life can feel, and what it's like to finish a long day and then lie awake replaying clinical decisions.

Kellie started out as a vet nurse and loved it, until one too many clients screamed at her over an invoice. Her self-doubt grew and she left the profession she'd worked so hard to join. Retraining as a Compassionate Inquiry therapist showed her what she couldn't see back then: the client was angry about the cost, not her. It was her own "I'm not good enough" belief that did the damage.

That's what we now help your vets and nurses see for themselves.

Who it's not for

This isn't right for every practice

  • Practices looking for a one-off talk. This is six or twelve weeks of working alongside your team, not a lunch-and-learn.
  • Owners who want the team "fixed" without being involved. We work with you and your managers too, because you're usually the ones holding everyone together.
  • Anyone wanting an off-the-shelf programme. Every practice is different, so we tailor the support to yours.
  • Anyone who needs crisis support. We're not a crisis or emergency service.
Questions

What you might be wondering

What is a Practice Partnership?

A six or twelve week programme where we work alongside everyone in your practice: you, your managers, your vets and your nurses. It combines in-person workshops, weekly group calls, leadership coaching, an online learning hub and confidential one-to-one support with Kellie for anyone who needs it.

Should we choose six weeks or twelve?

It depends on your team and what you'd like to be different by the end. We'll talk it through on the call and recommend the one that fits.

Does it really count as CPD?

Yes. The programme provides up to 36 CPD hours, so the time your team spend with us also supports their professional development.

How much time will it take out of the clinic?

We'll go through the schedule on the call, once we understand how your practice runs. The support is tailored to your team, not dropped in off the shelf.

Is what my team share confidential?

One-to-one therapeutic support with Kellie is confidential. We'll explain on the call exactly how confidentiality works across the workshops, group calls and staff survey.

What does it cost?

We'll cover that on the call, once we both know what your practice needs. For context, a single burned-out vet on sick leave costs around £10,000 a month in locum cover.

Is the call a sales pitch?

No. It's a conversation about what's happening in your practice and whether we can help. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

Ready to take some of the pressure off?

Spend less time firefighting. Grow a happier, healthier, more profitable practice.
